Corporate war tactics that keep you poor

The "Skills Gap" is a Systemic Lie — Here's the Real Problem

They keep telling you there's a "skills gap."

They say it's your fault you’re underpaid. That you need another certification. That your lack of opportunity comes down to a missing degree, a bootcamp, or a better résumé.

It’s a lie.

The real problem isn’t your skills.

It's the system.

I'm breaking it down—tactically, structurally, and psychologically.

What They Call a "Skills Gap" Is Actually a Power Gap

When employers claim they "can't find qualified workers," they're not pointing to a lack of ability.

They’re signaling a refusal to adjust:

  • Refusal to train.

  • Refusal to pay.

  • Refusal to hire based on real-world experience.

The "skills gap" narrative gaslights you into believing you’re the liability in the labor equation—when in fact, most workers are overqualified for the low-wage, low-respect jobs being offered.

Let me reframe this:

It’s not that people don’t have the skills.

It's that companies don't want to invest in talent development.

It’s that hiring pipelines are coded in classism, racism, ageism, and elitism.

Psychological Warfare: Credentialism as Control

The workforce was never about merit. It was about conformity.

And the modern hiring game weaponizes credentials, degrees, and LinkedIn speak as filters—not for quality—but for obedience and access.

Ask yourself:

  • Who gets to define what’s "skilled?"

  • Who creates the job descriptions?

  • Who decides which certifications count?

The credential arms race keeps you busy chasing paper instead of building sovereignty.

That’s why I teach system mastery over skill hoarding.

Skill can’t save you in a rigged market.

Leverage can.

Employers Want Unicorns at Intern Prices

You’ve seen it:

“Entry-level job, 3-5 years experience, master's degree preferred, must know Python, Salesforce, graphic design, and project management. $16/hour.”

This isn't a joke. It’s standard.

The market isn’t short on skilled workers.

It's short on reality.

Corporations want:

  • Maximum output for minimum investment.

  • Overqualified labor with no leverage.

  • Full-time availability with part-time pay.

This isn’t a gap.

It's economic predation.

Structural Oppression Disguised as “Neutral Hiring”

Let’s talk systems.

Access to skill-building isn’t equal.

Black and Brown youth are funneled into underfunded schools.

Single parents can’t afford to take unpaid internships.

People returning from incarceration face background check discrimination.

Age discrimination blocks out Gen X and Boomers from reentry into tech.

The idea that all people have “equal opportunity” to become “skilled” is a myth rooted in fantasy economics.

And companies benefit by perpetuating it.

That’s why workforce development must start outside the system—not within it.

The Real Solutions Have Nothing to Do With More Degrees

More training won't solve systemic exclusion.

What will?

  1. On-the-Job Training Pipelines

Stop outsourcing skill development to the workers. If you need a specific skill, teach it.

  2. Pay Transparency + Equity Audits

Most “skills gaps” disappear when you raise the wage. Talent shows up when respect shows up.

  3. Bias-Free Hiring Systems

If AI or HR filters screen out applicants based on zip code, age, or college pedigree—you’re not hiring for skill, you’re hiring for control.

  4. Alternative Pathways to Mastery

Internships. Apprenticeships. Peer-to-peer coaching. Skill is a process, not a certificate.

DX TAKEAWAY: STOP CHASING APPROVAL — BUILD POSITIONAL POWER

As a trainer, therapist, and strategist—I’ve seen this play out across every field.

It’s not about being good enough.

It’s about reclaiming the frame.

Here's how to reposition yourself:

  • Build offers, not just résumés. Create solutions. Package them. Price them. Pitch them.

  • Detach from external validation. No company gets to define your worth. Learn to self-certify.

  • Leverage your archetype. The DX Body Matrix doesn’t just apply to fitness. It defines energy, value, and presentation.

  • Control your environment. From the gym floor to the boardroom—sovereignty means choosing your market, your clients, and your outcomes.

🧠 Ask Yourself:

  • Where in your life am I over-skilling and under-leveraging?

  • Who benefits from me thinking I’m not ready yet?

  • How many jobs have I been overqualified for, but disqualified by “culture fit” or bias?

  • What systems can I build so no employer ever determines my worth again?

DX STRATEGIC ACTION PLAN

  1. Audit Your Skill Set for Sovereignty

List out what you know, what you’ve done, and what you’ve taught.

Now reframe them as offers, not experiences.

  2. Build a Sovereign Resume (aka Power Portfolio)

Shift from chronological job history to case studies, transformations, frameworks.

  3. Control the Interview Frame

If you choose to play the hiring game, flip the script:

Ask more questions than you answer.

Vet companies like they’re applying to YOU.

  4. Train Your Clients, Not Just Your Muscles

If you’re a trainer, coach, or creator—your real asset is leadership.

Teach people how to think, how to operate, how to move.

  5. Join or Build Parallel Economies

Black-owned networks. Decentralized work platforms. Co-ops.

Exit the plantation model. Enter purpose-driven marketplaces.

🧬 Final Words from Xavier Savage

The skills gap was never real.

It’s a distraction.

A delay tactic.

You are not underqualified—you are undervalued by a system that’s collapsing under its own weight.

Your job is not to fix the system.

It’s to become undeniable outside of it.

Start building.
