Grading yourself, accordingly is the key to success
Grading yourself and if applicable having a coach or trainer grade you is imperative to your success.
My clients, depending on who you talk to will tell you either, I am a super nice trainer, or a drill sergeant. Its all perspective.
When trying to lose weight, how you view yourself, and what you expect from your trainer will determine how successful you are on your journey. One thing I preach to all my clients, is self-accountability.
I ask them to grade themselves A-F just like if they were in school, and based off how well they did this week how would they grade themselves.
A 100-90%
B 80%
C 70%
D 60%
F 50%
Missing a workout or two, doesn’t mean you’re a failure, and eating one or two bad things won’t mess up your diet.
Often at times we overthink and dwell on our mistakes, which makes us further make more mistakes, and make us miss the easy wins.
What do I mean by easy wins, the things you will normally do right, without thinking about it, you may subconsciously or consciously screw up. For example taking the stairs at work or eating a salad, if you’re frustrated you may intentionally avoid doing, which will cost you in the long run.
When we dwell on mistakes, you give control to the negative things in life and that is the complete opposite of what you should be doing. When you grade yourself, like your in school, all you have to do is strive for 70%.
Why 70% ?
Why 70%, because if you can hit 70% its easier to hit 80,90 and even 100%. It also allows for mistakes holidays and working towards your goals without, stressing out or worrying about mistakes.
I only get tough with my clients, in the same manner a teacher would when its time for their students, to push themselves to make the grade.
I will never berate people and only provide objective feedback, and guidance to help them achieve their goals.
On the contrary I will never lie, and tell them anything they wanna hear, because that will always result in failure.
