Why Should I read the War of Art
The war of art is for people, who are ready to examine and defeat the negative resistance that has taken a hold of their life.
Creativity is stifled when we give in the the resistant forces trying to undermine our hard work.
Realize and live your greatest dream
When we put things off until tomorrow we put them off indefinitely. Unless you plan out today on paper to do something tomorrow, than the chances of it getting done is non-existent.
The war of art is about facing down resistance, once and for all and learning how to defeat it when it shows its face.
Resistance, seeks to stop you from pursuing whatever endeavors will lead you to your greatest work. Resistance wants to put doubt in your mind, and fear, so that it can control you.
Satisfy your souls hunger
Feel fear and do it any ways, the greats still get nervous, they throw up before entering the arena. They look like a deer in headlights, when giving a thank you speech at an award show.
When you feel fear and do it anyways you satisfy your souls hunger.
Fear is an indication that you are on the right track and doing something meaningful.
Treat your dream job like a full time job
If you don’t spend full time hours perfecting your craft how and why do you think you’ll be successful. Jim Rohn has a story he tells, where a man, says you don’t understand, by the time I get home, all I can do is eat a bit of supper, watch tv, and sleep.
This in fact how most of us spend our lives, now if I were to go to the settings on your netflix account, I bet you spend full time hours plus overtime hours watching tv.
This is an example of resistance.
Resistance tells you that its more rewarding to watch tv and put your work off until tomorrow, but we both know that’s a lie.
If its your passion treat it like a full time job. The war of art is a full time job, you must show up day in and day out like you do for your current job, in order to advance.
Know your craft
Amateurs think they can do it on their own, and tell professionals they’re wasting their time, continuously honing their skills.
However, the professional is wise enough to know there are things they don’t know, and that by having the extra training even if its just reviewing fundamentals, they are light years ahead of the amateurs.
Being persistent and organized defeats the resistance
Become organized, pace yourself and be consistent. For there will be adversity and setbacks, along the way, When you double down and become more organized and focused, this wears down the resistance, and will soon make you the victor.
