Zinc is essential | The guide

This quick guide will discuss why zinc is essential. I know most people don’t understand the importance of what different supplements do.

So my plan with these guides is to illustrate what makes different vitamins and minerals essential.

Zinc  is an essential mineral.

What can make you deficient in zinc

You can lose zinc through sweating an other activities.

Also not eating enough shellfish, eggs or fish.

From a plant based stand point foods like beans, nuts, and spinach can be excellent sources.

Some people supplement with ZMA in order to get the correct dosage of zinc.

Common ways of  determining if you are zinc deficient

You may experience cognitive issues such as a loss of an ability to remember things. Low zinc in some cases has been know to be correlated with low test in men.

What does zinc do

Zinc removes carbon dioxide from the body, helps other nutrients work better and more efficiently.

Zinc also aids in proper immune function.

Zinc regulates Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor, which regulates the nervous system.

What are other minerals that are considered essential

Other essential minerals include:

  1. Calcium builds bones and teeth; activates enzymes throughout the body; helps regulate blood pressure; and helps muscles to contract, nerves to send messages, and blood to clot.

  2. Chromium helps maintain normal blood sugar levels and helps cells draw energy from blood sugar.

  3. Copper assists with metabolizing fuel, making red blood cells, regulating neurotransmitters, and mopping up free radicals.

  4. Iron helps make hemoglobin (the oxygen-carrying chemical in the body’s red blood cells) and myoglobin (a protein in muscle cells). Iron is essential for activating certain enzymes and for making amino acids, collagen, neurotransmitters, and hormones.

  5. Magnesium, like calcium, builds bones and teeth. It also helps to regulate blood pressure and blood sugar and enables muscles to contract, nerves to send messages, blood to clot, and enzymes to work.

  6. Manganese helps form bones and helps metabolize amino acids, cholesterol, and carbohydrates.

  7. Molybdenum activates several enzymes that break down toxins and prevents the buildup of harmful sulfites in the body.

  8. Potassium balances fluids in the body, helps to maintain a steady heartbeat and to make muscles contract, and may benefit bones and blood pressure.

  9. Sodium balances fluids in the body, helps send nerve impulses, and helps make muscles contract.

  10. Zinc helps blood clot, helps make proteins and DNA, bolsters the immune system, and helps with wound healing and cell division.
